Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata Mürren-Gimmelwald

Marching along the steep rock face secured by a rope - that's the ultimate adrenaline kick par excellence! The special feature: the fixed rope route leads down from Muerren to Gimmelwald. The spectacular view of the Bernese 4'000m peaks is included free of charge. High above the Lauterbrunnen Valley on the Muerren viewing terrace (1'650 m above sea level), the via ferrata begins, leading into a steep abyss. As a rule, via ferrata routes go uphill. In Muerren, on the other hand, the route descends in the direction of Gimmelwald. 300 meters of altitude difference and 2.2 km of via ferrata are covered within about 3 hours. A Via Ferrata (Italian: road of iron or iron path), is a kind of intermediate stage between normal mountain hiking and free climbing.

Open from: 1 June to the end of October. Grindelwald Sports offers guided tours with a mountain guide: https://www.grindelwaldsports.ch/de/klettersteig-muerren-2607.html
