Activities for families

Gimmelwald offers a wide range of activities for families.

At the station of the Schilthorn cable car there is a popular playground with a large slide. On a tour of the village you will discover a variety of farm animals.

In the Sefinen valley there is also a nice barbecue fireplace with the possibility to play at a side stream of the Sefinenlütschine. You can reach the barbecue area by walking in about half an hour from Gimmelwald.

On the Allmendhubel there is a large adventure playground right next to the mountain restaurant. The Allmendhubel can be easily reached in 5 minutes by funicular from Muerren. The Flower Trail, a short circular walk on the Allmendhubel, is also interesting for children as it gives you information about many alpine flowers.

At the Winteregg mountain restaurant on the Muerren-Gruetschalp route, there is also a beautiful children's playground. In addition, the hiking trail from Gruetschalp via Winteregg to Muerren is also the "Detective Trail" with the appropriate app. This offers exciting experiences for children. https://www.jungfrau.ch/de-ch/winteregg-muerren/detektiv-trail/

Another barbecue area with some playground equipment is located in Muerren, just a few minutes’ walk above the Schilthorn cable car station.

An additional playground is located at the sports centre in Muerren, where there is also a pump track for skaters, bikers and scooters as well as a soccer field. The sports centre has a public indoor swimming pool with a 25m pool and separate children's pool as well as a whirlpool, which you can use free of charge with the Gimmelwald guest card. The guest card can be obtained from your accommodation provider.

For families with slightly older children, an excursion to Isenfluh is recommended. From Isenfluh a small cable car leads up to the hamlet of Sulwald. The small cabin can accommodate either 8 people or a cow. Monster scooters can be rented at the mountain station and then it's off along the forest road in a rapid ride down to Isenfluh - fun for young and old! www.isenfluh.ch
